Earlier in the year, Mato Tan of Matonetics ran a best
ET of 10.83 secs. in the 1/4 mile. Then powered by a B18C, the
little Honda Civic EG (named Just Two), was the second car in the Philippines to hit the
10 second mark. As a matter of fact, Mato has run Just Two in the 10's twice, but on
separate occasions.
Today, the Civic runs with a B16A engine, a MUCH
LARGER turbocharger (see pic below) and uses Methanol as fuel. To control the massive
volumes of air and fuel, a Motec ECU digitally keeps everything right where Mato sets it.
26 inch Mickey Thompson slicks and a wheelie
bar, along with a fabricated front traction device, helps launch the car with authority.
With a bit more development time,
Just Two will definitely be a force to be rekoned with. Among the top teams, this black
hatchback runs with the smallest displacement, yet turns in VERY QUICK time slips!
The Matonetics crew, with Mato leading the way,
have certainly built one great little car. Expect great things from Just Two for the
coming new year! |
